Morning Thoughts

I've honestly forgotten to write anything on here. This is not okay, because this means I haven't taken the time to reflect on what I'm doing/thinking/feeling/wanting, which is part of the reason why I created this page to start with!

But with a new school year comes this fresh ambition to get out and tackle the world, so here I am! I have a few ideas for posts and thoughts and fun things :) I have some new influences in my environment at school this year, so there's lots on my mind.

I've been waking up super early for class all week, so naturally on Saturday I wake up at the same time. But instead of going back to bed, I wanted to use my time. I was cleaning up when I stepped outside for a minute to feel the weather. In a puddle in the alley there was a group of 3 or 4 little birds, actually taking a bird bath in the water. They jumped in, flapped their wings crazily, and fluttered out for the next bird. So cute! There are rewards to getting up early :)

One last thought: I can be a bit of a perfectionist. Something that's held me back from posting is this idea that everything I write has to be my finished product. But life's not about perfection; it's about looking at the imperfect world in which we live and finding what's beautiful and good about it. So, no more of that (although that might be a challenge).

Good morning!

Adios, Sobriety.

Sitting here on this gray-ish Sunday (ironically sans-sun), working on a bit of homework, and obviously procrastinating. Maybe it's the DELICIOUS smelling vanilla-cupcake candle that's scenting my room (nomZ), but it's probably because:

MY21STBIRTHDAYISTOMORROW!!??!

I'M SO EXCITED AND I LOVE BIRTHDAYS AND THIS IS MORE EXCITING THAN CHRISTMAS MORNING BECAUSE NOW I CAN GO ANYWHERE I WANT AND I CAN GET COCKTAILS AT A SWANKY MARTINI BAR LIKE I'M ON GOSSIP GIRL IF I SHOULD EVER SO DESIRE OR JUST NOT BUT KNOW THAT I COULD!! plus other reasons :) like, pre-birthday preparations:

In my birthday excitement, I've (natch), been dreaming about what my "birthday look" should be. I went last Friday with H to Urban Outfitters, Pitaya, and Chacha (somelocal shops), but to no avail. What's a birthday girl to do without the right frock? I wanted something structured, girly, of-course flattering, with some color, and above all, a "party dress". I found thissssss:

And since nobody can tell me I'm being obnoxious, I'm planning on dressing it up with one of these:

And a pair of these for good measure:

Like with most good things, when you know the right dress, you just KNOW it's the right dress.

In the Beginning...

Ever since my friend Cordelia introduced me to a bunch of her favorite blogs I've been playing around with the idea of starting my own. I love browsing the list of blogs I've started following myself since this last summer...the beautiful photos, fashion, and crafts are a feast for my eyes and truly spark my imagination and creativity. The blog community is so unique -- it's so interesting how our mediums for connecting with people has changed as we discover new technologies. Over time, however, there's the strong urge between people to connect and learn about others, and I want to be involved!

I'm pretty busy with classes, but I want to post thoughts, inspiring photos, links to beautiful things, and maybe even some of my own photography :) Life gets so much richer if we all open up! I feel so lucky sometimes, like today, walking to class as soft snowflakes came floating down. It's still really powdery and fluffy, so I felt like I was walking to class inside a snowglobe. I absolutely LOVE weather...boots, cozy scarves, and mittens just make me so happy! I'm so blessed to be able to live here and enjoy this beautiful campus. Another highlight of my day was catching up with my friend H. I LOVE this girl, and our addiction is Starbucks, a.k.a starbs as we refer to it via text. After I got my grande caramel macchiato with soy we walked over to Urban, where H promptly lost her phone. We seriously searched for 25 minutes before shaking out a rack of jeans and hearing a plink! as her phone dropped onto the ground. It'll be funny later once I'm not so sweaty.

Snowflakes, starbs, and new textbooks -- what a great Tuesday :)
